Week of October 5-9

In honor of Homecoming, Bath Elementary will be participating in Spirit Week and will have a daily theme.
Monday -- Beach Day
Tuesday -- Team Day
Wednesday -- Color Day (3rd graders wear ORANGE)
Thursday -- Pajama Day
Friday -- Blue and White Day

This week we are reading an informational text called, Whose Habitat Is It? (Unit 1, Week 3)  Students are identifying the Main Idea and Supporting Details. The spelling words this week follow the long a pattern. Students will learn that the spelling pattern is different when the /a/ sound appears in the middle of the word or at the end of the word. In grammar, students will learn about subjects and predicates.  They will see that sentences need to have a WHO or WHAT (subject) and an ACTION (predicate).

Today firefighters from the Bath Township Fire Department came to our school to teach students about fire safety. The important take away for students is that they need to know their address, their phone number, and how many people and pets live in their home.The fire fighters also told the students to make sure they have a family meeting place in the front yard or at a neighbor's house. All of these things will help the fire department find them and keep them safe in an emergency. If you do not have a family meeting area, now is a good time to have a family meeting and choose that spot where you will all meet if needed.
