The spelling words this week follow the CVCe (consonant, vowel, consonant, silent e) spelling pattern (Dear Juno, Unit 1, Week 2). Students should practice the words they have not mastered. The pre-test, given each Monday, helps your child know which words need a little more practice to be ready for the Friday spelling test. Thank you for helping by providing practice time at home.
In writing, students are using the Expanding Expression Tool (EET) to help them organize their thoughts for informational writing. They are writing about the month of September. These final pieces should be ready for you to see later this week. You can read them displayed in the hallway or look for their work on Seesaw!
Please help your child master their basic addition and subtraction facts at home. Knowing these facts quickly helps free their brain up for more complex mathmatical problem solving. A pack of flash cards can help with automaticity or you can verbally call out some facts as you are driving, walking, or just hanging around the house.
The Fundraiser form is due on Monday, September 28.
