Test Alert

Students will have an assessment of their learning on Chapter 1 of their Social Studies text on Friday, September 26. Chapter 1 consists of pages 46-75. The assessment will be have 10 multiple choice questions, 6 matching of vocabulary words, 5 map skill questions, 2 short answer questions, and 1 essay question. They will receive a paper version of this study guide on Wednesday when we complete Lesson 5.

Students should have an understanding of the following items:
 Vocabulary words (highlighted in yellow in each lesson)
 Know the four main landforms and where they are located
 Mountains, plateaus, hills, and plains
 Know how rivers build up the land and tear it down
 Know what causes seasons
 Know how an ocean can affect climate
 Know the difference between service jobs and manufacturing jobs and examples of each
 Know how farmers can conserve soil
 Know how people can conserve mineral resources
 Know kinds of natural resources in the US:
Fresh water, fuels, minerals, fertile soil, forests
 Be able to place the following landforms on a map: Appalachian Mountains, Coastal Plain, Great Basin, Interior Plains, Rocky Mountains
 Write about the difference between weather and climate
