In reading this week, we will read a historical fiction story called, Boomtown, (Unit 5, Week 1). Students will dig deep and analyze the character's actions and motivations and lastly, note how the character's actions contribute to the sequence of events. The spelling words this week are compound words and in grammar, students will learn about pronouns.
We are finished with the research report for Young Author's Day! If you still want to order an extra copy of the State Report, please send in the order form by Monday. You still get one FREE copy. If you would like a copy of the cookbook, please send the form and money in by Monday. Thank you to families that submitted a recipe. On Monday, we will begin a unit on Opinion Writing! This is always fun to see student opinions supported by reasons! Should students have a morning snack? Should students wear school uniforms? Should students have a set bedtime?
In math, we are starting Chapter 8 Understanding Fractions and in science, Chapter 8 Changes on Earth (volcanoes, earthquakes, weathering, and erosion).
