Week of December 16 - 20

The feeling of Christmas is certainly in the air with the snowfall over the weekend.  So pretty!

This week we are taking a break from the basal and focusing on the Common Core State Standard of recounting stories from different cultures. (3.RL.2) There are no spelling words this week as we focus on prefixes and suffixes (3.RF.3).  In math, we are continuing learning about strategies to solve unknown multiplication facts.  An excellent stocking stuffer could be a pack of multiplication flash cards! Students should fluently recall multiplication facts by the time they leave third grade.

There are many holiday activities planned for this week.  The class party is Thursday, December 19 beginning at 2:30 PM.  Please send in a mug filled with treats by Tuesday.  Thank you to those that have volunteered to send in cookies or donuts.  Students can wear their PJs as they drink hot cocoa and have a bit more relaxed time with their classmates.  Friday is Multicultural Day and we will make some bagel/birdseed feeders to keep our feathered friends full over the winter break.  Have a wonderful week as you finish up those last minute preparations!
