Week of September 16-20

School Fundraiser
The school has switched fundraising companies this year and is going with a company called Great Lakes Promotions. They have many items that are made right here in Michigan! We are asking that all parents try to participate in this fundraiser. This is the largest fundraiser for our students. Forms went home on September 10th. This fundraiser company also has an online ordering form. Follow the website link below to view these brochures. www.greatlakespromotions.com Our school ID is: BAF13008 Use this code to register online. Receive your own unique student ID code and start selling. Selling online counts towards the accumulation of prizes as well. The best part is that people who buy online will have the products shipped right to their house! Products will be delivered to the school 1 week after the fundraiser ends (September 24). When the product is delivered, students will need to collect the money. Checks can be made out to Bath Community Schools.

School Picture Day School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 17. Please return the Lifetouch form with your student on Monday or Tuesday.

We will continue to look at Literary Elements this week during the reading block with the story, Dear Juno (Unit 1, Week 2).  We will focus on character traits and use the text to help us determine the qualities of characters.  Students will look at what the character says, what they do, and what they think.  For example, some characters are determined, smart, lonely, or angry.  We will use pictures and words to infer what the author is trying to tell us.  Students will use a graphic organizer to help them visually organize the story’s elements.

The spelling words this week follow the CVCe (consonant, vowel, consonant, silent e) spelling pattern (Dear Juno, Unit 1, Week 2).  Students should practice the words they have not mastered.  The pre-test, given each Monday, helps your child know which words need a little more practice to be ready for the Friday spelling test.  Thank you for helping by providing practice time at home.
