Subjects and Predicates

Students in Room 210 are learning about subjects and predicates for the next two weeks. Embedded below is a fun YouTube video that can help students remember these two important parts of a sentence. When ideas are put to music, they are so much easier to remember! This week we are reading an informational text called, Whose Habitat Is It?. Students are identifying the Main Idea and Supporting Details. The spelling words this week follow the long a pattern. Students learned that the spelling pattern is different when the /a/ sound appears in the middle of the word or at the end of the word. We are writing personal narratives in writing and learning how to really grab the reader's attention with the perfect "hook". As writers do, they are writing many versions of the lead and setting. Then they will choose their best example to include in their final piece. In science, we are learning about plant parts and functions. As we get closer to the chapter test, students will bring home a study guide and vocabulary words. Please help them at home to prepare for the test by asking questions and reviewing the study guide with them.
