ABNL -- Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday at ABNL on PhotoPeach

Tuesday was all about plants. Students began the morning with looking closely at plant parts with a digital microscope! They compared taproots and fibrous roots and drew sketches, notes, and wrote observations in their journals. In the afternoon, we had an expert speaker from MSU, Mr. Adam Montri. He helped students understand the importance of plants in our world and how we use plants to make our lives better. Thank you to Mr. Awrey, Mr. Clarke and Mrs. Flewelling for joining us and helping during the day!

Today, Wednesday, we had our own Mr. Doug Murphy as our expert speaker. He keeps our computers and the technology running at our school and he knows a lot about glaciers. He taught the students how the mitten of Michigan was formed and answered questions about glaciers, eskers, and moraines. We went out with binoculars for bird observations in the late morning. We were super quiet and saw swallows, robins, and a Canada goose on her nest. In the afternoon, we had our observation time at the bog. Students especially enjoy the bouncy feeling of the bog! Thank you to Mrs. Ingram, Mrs. Wolfinger, and Hayden's Aunt Wendy for helping us today!
