Week of November November 14-18

We’ve been working diligently this week on creating a video (also known as a “mash-up”) to show student learning about natural resources. The research, writing, and paper slideshow is complete. The next step is to practice and record. Look for 3 videos to be posted later this week or early next week! Students have a study sheet/summary guide of the chapter on natural resources. We will have a review day on Wednesday and the chapter assessment on Thursday.

The reading selection and spelling words this week come from The Planets In Our Solar System. Our reading strategy continues to be summarizing and we will identify the main idea and details in this informational text. Look at SpellingCity.com for fun ways to practice the spelling words.

In math, we are working in Chapter 2 Represent and Interpret Data. Students have learned about tally tables, frequency tables, picture graphs and bar graphs. We are working with horizontal and vertical bar graphs and will learn about plot lines by the end of the week.

The PTA is having a Family Fitness Night on Tuesday, November 22. During this fun evening there will be a class basket auction. Our class will be supplying a basket with a gardening theme. Some suggested items to donate are seed packets, gardening tools, gardening gloves, books, etc. Donations will be accepted all week.

The photos this week show the work of creating a Natural Resources Mash-Up. Enjoy!
