Friday of Homecoming Week

Safari Club International & Bath Firefighters on PhotoPeach

On Friday, students enjoyed a visit from the International Safari Club. Students were able to touch and experience the textures of a variety of animals that are not native to Michigan. The International Wildlife Museum is dedicated to increasing knowledge of, and appreciation for, the diverse wildlife of the world as well as explaining the role of wildlife management in conservation. The museum has over 400 kinds of insects, mammals and birds from all over the globe, provides visitors the opportunity to see animals up close, and to gain a better understanding of their size and adaptive characteristics.

We also had a visit from three firefighters of the Bath Township Fire Department. These firefighters came to talk to students about fire safety and discuss Fire Safety Week (October 9-15). Students were reminded that matches, lighters, and candles are tools, not toys. Aidan demonstrated "Stop, drop, and roll" and all students practiced screaming loudly to let a firefighter know that they are trapped in a burning room. The firefighters also reminded students to have an escape route planned for their home and to practice using it. As we do in school, families should practice fire drills in their home and have a designated spot in the yard to meet in the event of a house fire. This would be a good week to talk about a family meeting area if you do not have one already. We really appreciate these important reminders and the chance to practice these life-saving skills. Many thanks go to the Bath Fire Department.
