The basil has grown and the plants were full enough that we were able to make some pesto today. As you know, the basil grew in our very own classroom and was picked just before it went into the food processor. So fresh! Next, came some pine nuts, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper. Once it was spread on some crostini and topped with monterey jack cheese, third graders were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor! What a great example of the benefits of locally grown produce!
