Busy Week

Since we have returned from Spring Break, students in Room 210 have been on the go! In science, we had a mini-unit on fossils and students can explain how fossils tell us about the past and the types of animals and plants that once lived on Earth. We have moved on to properties of matter and did an investigation on the density of liquids and objects. We will continue to learn about chemical and physical changes, solvents and solutions, and mass.

The Science Fair on Tuesday night was a great place to showcase young scientific minds. Students in 4th grade displayed a variety of problems, hypotheses, questions, results, and conclusions. What a great evening to see friends and neighbors, as well as a chance to display some scientific thinking.

On Thursday, students had a chance to display their flair with a pen! Young Authors' Day was another opportunity to feature the talents and skills of the students in Room 210. The many weeks of research, writing, revising, and illustrating paid off in the opportunity to share the final piece with an audience. Thank you parents, grandparents, and friends that took time off work to come and listen to students read their written word.

In Reading Workshop, we finished a whole class reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Students worked in collaborative groups to create a wall mural depicting five main events in the true story of this young heroine from Japan. Ask you child to tell you the story of Sadako. She was truly an amazing young girl.
