Tuesday at ABNL
Today was all about water! Students tested water and found out that the water in Priggooris Lake is pretty good! They tested the temperature, the pH, turbidity (how clean the water is), nitrates, and phosphates. Next, they did a pond study and found some amazing creatures that live in the water of Priggooris Lake. The final station was called an Enviroscape. Here they learned that humans can pollute the water in many ways. Fertilizer, factory waste, car waste. and animal waste are just a few of things that can seep into the groundwater and pollute our streams and rivers. Our observation was by the edge of the lake. We had a wonderful hike to get there and were serenaded by Sandhill cranes along the way. Be sure to have your Third Grader tell their favorite part!
