Week of March 2-6

Spring Conferences -- March 12
Spring Conferences are approaching.  I sent home letters (green paper) to families that I would like to meet with to discuss progress in the classroom.  Please return the sheet indicating the best times for you to meet.  If March 12th is a conflict for you, please let me know and we can schedule for another time.  Your child's progress and preparedness for 4th grade is a top priority and I can meet on a different day, if needed.

Science Fair -- March 20
Bath Elementary is hosting a Science Fair on Friday, March 20, from 4-6 PM.  If your child wishes to participate please complete the Entrance Form that was sent home a couple of weeks ago.  If it has been misplaced or accidentally recycled, just let me know and I can send home another copy.  Our classroom will have an entry that all students will work on.  We'll be starting on Forces and Motion when we complete Changes on Earth. Our science fair exhibit will be titled, "Rubber Bands for Energy" and will explore potential and kinetic energy.  Should be fun!

Young Author's Day -- April 30
We have been busy researching and writing reports on historical people for Young Author's Day. Every student gets a FREE hardbound book of their writing and illustrating.  Last week, your child brought home a form from Student Treasures Publishing giving you a chance to purchase an additional copy of their book.  Even if you do not wish to purchase extra copies, the form with a parent signature needs to be returned.  Every student gets a FREE copy of their book.

The spelling words this week come from the reading selection, Seven Spools of Thread (Unit 4, Week 2).  The words follow the /ou/ sound and will be tested on Friday.  Spring Pictures are on Friday, March 6.  Only students that return the Lifetouch form with payment will be photographed.
