Week of October 6-10

In the reading block this week, we will continue to read informational text and look for the main idea and supporting details.  The spelling test and Weekly Assessment for Penguin Chick will be on Friday.  I am excited to announce that we received 5 iPads for our classroom on Thursday.  A big thank you to all those that helped make that happen--Mr. Strickler, Mr. Murphy, and Mrs. Cook.  Students will be introduced to them on Monday and will be able to use many of the apps during the reading block and math.

The Halloween Party and Parade will be on Friday, October 31.  There will be a Party Planning Meeting for parents that are interested in planning the classroom parties (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day) on October 14 at 6:00 PM in the classroom. In keeping with school policy, all parents will need to have an iChat done before they can come to the Halloween Party.  If you haven't done an iChat yet, this would be a good week to get it done.  That way you can be certain you'll be clear by the end of the month! A green sheet for Parent Teacher Conferences came home on Friday.  Please indicate what times work best for you and I'll do my best to accommodate your schedule.
