When it rains, it pours! As many of you know, students did not even get off the bus at Lake Lansing for today's Voyageur Encampment! Lightning and thunder was all around and it was decided to pack up and take the experience back to school. Lynn Johnson, Executive Director of Project Lakewell, and her interpreters brought all of their artifacts, stories, knowledge, and expertise back to school for the rest of the day. Despite the change of plans, students learned about the time period and what life would have been like if they had lived in the 1700s. Thank you to parents that sent in food and supplies to make the day happen. We still ate voyageur stew that was heated in the cafeteria instead of a charcoal fire and students had rolls, apples, and popcorn.
Wednesday is Young Author's Day and we hope you will be able to make it to listen to some amazing writing. Students worked hard researching and illustrating a book about the state of their choice. The books have returned from the printer and students are ready to share. We will have our time to share with you from 3:10-3:25 in the Media Center. We hope you can make it.
Friday is Wood's Wacky Warehouse. If you would like to send in baked goods that are pre-packaged in serving sizes of 2 or 4, that would be fantastic. We also are accepting donations of clean, complete toys, puzzles, or stuffed animals.
