We are staying dry! We started our morning with "First Look" and "At the Edge" observations and note-taking. We were fortunate enough to see sandhill cranes (nesting), egrets, a female mallard duck and red-winged blackbirds. Our expert speakers were from Potter Park Zoo and they shared information about the mission of the Zoo (education) and brought animals found in Michigan to show us. They talked about adaptations, predator/prey relationships, and what animals need to survive. After lunch, we had our observation at the bog and dissected owl pellets. All in all, a pretty cool day! Mr. Strickler came out for a visit and he was able to see our learning in action! Tomorrow promises to be just as spectacular with learning about the precious natural resource--water. We'll do some water testing in the morning, and have teacher led lessons on the amount of fresh water in the world and our local watershed. Enjoy the images from the day.
