Another snow day?? Oh my, when will Spring arrive? Since this is turning out to be a short week, we will spend this week and all of next week on the next reading selection, Seven Spools of Thread (Unit 4, Week 2), a fable from Ghana. Students will use the comprehension strategy of Making Inferences and Drawing Conclusions. The spelling words this week follow the /ou/ sound and in grammar students will learn about linking verbs. The spelling test and Weekly Assessment will be on Friday, February 28. (No spelling test this week). We will finish up Chapter 6 on division and have a chapter assessment on Tuesday, February 25. In science, we are continuing to learn about animal adaptions. The end of unit assessment for adaptations will be a writing assignment.
Please help your child at home with multiplication facts, spelling words, and oral reading. Any extra help they get really helps in the classroom.
Thank you to parents that supplied the tasty food for the Valentine Party. The students had a fantastic time and enjoyed the morning.
The PTA is holding the Annual Art and Literacy Night on Tuesday, February 25. Classrooms will create a piece of art that is auctioned off with proceeds to help with field trips and other school functions. Each student in Room 210 made a cupcake that is displayed on a cupcake stand. If this is something you'd like to see on the walls of your home, make sure you attend that evening and place a bid. It's a piece of art that has texture and unique color choices!
