Students learned about Earth's layers today by making a miniature model. Using Playdough, students began with the inner core (red). They learned that the inner core is metal, mostly iron, and solid. The next layer, the outer core, is liquid metal--almost the consistency of water! The next layer, the mantle, is the largest layer and made of rock. On top of the mantle, lies the crust. The crust floats on top of the mantle and moves about 2 inches a year! What fun to make a model and learn about the layers. I hope your student enjoys teaching you about Earth's layers.
REMINDER: Please send in your child's present for their Book Buddy by tomorrow.
