MLK Day

Students spent today learning about an important historical figure—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For many students in local schools it was a day off, but for students at Bath Elementary, it was a day to learn more about Dr. King. We watched a video, read picture books, wrote about our own dreams for the future, and made a sequencing book of important events in his life. Our Scholastic News for today highlighted a new monument on the Mall in Washington, DC that honors Dr. King. Sounds like a great family vacation to see the additional monument alongside the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial!

We will begin our literacy work in Treasures on Tuesday. Students will have a new list of spelling words from Saving the Sand Dunes. There are all kinds of fun practice activities on spellingcity.com. The spelling test will be Friday. Students will bring home a Vocabulary Word Study Sheet for the words from this reading selection on Tuesday.
