Growing Plants

In Science, we have been learning about plant parts and functions. To help with our learning, we are observing different types of plants. First, we forced some paperwhites and made a flip book illustrating the growth every few days. The paperwhites are growing in a clear glass vase which helps us see the root system. . . amazing! It helps students see how deep some roots go to get the water and nutrients they need to become a healthy plant! Next, we planted basil in an AeroGarden. The basil will germinate, or begin to grow, in the next day or two and before long we will be able to make and eat some pesto! The basil plant will provide a nice model of the stems, leaves, and roots and be a great example of how we use plants for food!
