We finished our second week of school by exploring the membrane of an onion. We began a science unit this week on classifying plants and animals. Students looked at the vocabulary words for the unit earlier in the week by defining the word, noting characteristics of the word, and listing examples and nonexamples. They have learned that all living things are made of cells and cells have a nucleus. We will continue with reading about cells, looking at the parts of cells, and learning how they work together. Look for a letter in your child's blue folder this week that explains how you and your child can go online to Pearson Successnet (textbook publisher) to find interactive learning activities that go along with what they are reading and learning about in school. The letter provides your username and password. Please check it out. It is a very fun and informative study tool.

Please call, send an email, or stop by if you have questions regarding these changes.
MOODLEing IN THE LAB
Students were introduced to a new on-line classroom called "Moodle". They went to the Forum and responded to a prompt related to the novel Because of Winn-Dixie written by Kate DiCamillo. They were able to post their ideas to the forum and then respond to their classmate's ideas. You can check out Moodle at home. Start at the Bath website. Go to Technology, Elementary Moodle, and use your child's login. Let them show you how and they can be your teacher! We will Moodle each week, so be sure to ask them what they have done in the computer lab.
